Crackdown Demo

Killer finds one phrase that seems to come to mind with this game "Nothing to see here, please move on"

At first was fun to play with the comic book style graphics and game play, but after a while it seems like the same thing, over and over. Sadder still, it felt like I was playing GTA with some minor changes. Run or drive, shoot and shoot some more, and run or drive somewhere else, rinse and repeat. Sure, they threw in a few side games and that did not make it better. Just gave the fanboys something else to do in the game.

Killer looked at the forums for this demo and realizes he is the minority here, but thinks there are a few reasons the other players like this game.

  1. More shooting and goofing around.
  2. No thinking required
  3. No strategy required
  4. If you like GTA style game, you will like this on (Killer not into that stye of game).
  5. If you are going to spend $6o to get the Halo3 beta, you have to justify your purchase by saying the Crackdown is worth the $60

GRAW 2

Well, Whacky is officially afraid. March 31 marks the end of the Ubi fiscal year. My fear is that Ubi is going to rush GRAW 2 out to the public with flaws and bugs. EA is taking a hit now with the bugs with ALL their games, and to the same extent, Ubi is also. So, a March 9 release date could either spell disaster or boom for Ubi. If the game has any type of bugs, it will take a hit along with Ubi's profits. But, if it comes through flaw-less (not flawless), Ubi stands to make a lot of money. They are doing the right thing: PC and Xbox March 9 and PS3 March 31. They now cover the 4th quarter and 1st quarter fiscally. Not too shabby Ubi.

Bejeweled - "You really play that game???"

Hard day at work, Bunky? To much to do at home? Dogs won't leave you alone? Wife has a honey-do list a mile long? Looking for a game that you can play with 98% of your brain on standby. This is the game you need.

Yes, it is Killer's hidden and secret pleasure (like watching episodes of Gilligan's Island) where Killer can unwind after a hard day and strain his brain. No getting killed in GOW or RSV. No repeatedly trying levels over in SCDA, attempting to get the elusive 100% rating. Just simple, no brain fun.

The many different modes a play offer a plethora of options. From the traditional game to the neverending Endless Game (you will never get the "No Matches Found" message that ends the game) you will find enough forbidden pleasure to last a while. The achievement for the Endless game is only 280 levels (at this posting Killer is up to level 41 and probably will never get to 280 unless Killer can teach his dogs to play for him during the day.....hey.. that is a good idea).

Cheap fun, little frustration (unlike Pac-Man, which Killer does not like)... a definate BUY.

Demos and other stuff

Just downloaded the demo of Battlestations: Midway. Without background or instructions, this is not a good game to demo. It took me about 5 minutes to find a match. Then it asked me to pick a slot, didn't know what I was doing so I did. Then it there were 2 objectives.
Well, it took me about 3 minutes to figure out that I was controlling ships, so then I launched 2 ships to help defend. I sank an incoming ship, went to battle another, then got disconnected. So, to say demo has some flaws would be a good summarization.
This game will not be for everyone. It is pure strategy.
I also downloaded Heavy Weapon, the new Arcade game. Pure mindlessness. It's a pure 80's style game, much like Missle Command. Somewhat fun, but repetative.

Happy New Year!!

Yes, it's the new year. My resolutions are:
1) Finish NFS - 2 more drivers to go.
2) Finish TDU - yikes, lots more to go.
3) Play more XBOX!!!! Have to get approval from Mrs. McTiger to make that happen.

Hope everyone has a healthy and happy New Year!
