OK, longer review
Killer and I have been trying to come up with a game rating system that should be fair and covers game aging also.
In the mean time, here is my take on Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.
Graphics: One of the most stunning graphic games out there. The lighting effects, the movements. You can tell that SC:CT pushes the envelope on the capabilities. 9.5
Sound: I cannot wait to get my surround sound set up!! Because I'm in an apartment, hopefully temporarily until we find a house, I have not set up the surround sound yet. But, the sound in here are very cool. 9.5 (may increase with surround sound set up)
AI: Again, leading the way in AI. These guys are pretty good. You can tell personalities of each of the characters, which is very surprising. Some are chicken, some are aggressive. 9.8
Live: Well, so far, I've only done the co-op missions on it. I can tell you that this is very cool. Trying to get through a mission stealth is tough, but doable. I have yet to try Versus because of the bad taste from SC:PT. From everything I've heard, they've leveled out the playing field, so this may be better. There are some lagging issues, may be the Live service, may be the graphics. Until I play it a little more and try to narrow down cause, for now: 9.5 (will be higher if Versus has changed)
Playability: I use this to determine the one important factor: Do I want to put this game down? The answer is: NO!!! I buy games for both online and offline play. Both modes are fantastic. I am not a run and gun type of guy, you can see that from the Halo 2 stats at the top of the page. I'm a more conservative player where I would rather use strategy instead of run and gun. Ghost Recon 2 uses strategy, but their online mode has flaws with the respawn places. Halo 2 is just pure run and gun. I give this a: 10!
Overall: 9.6 (may increase)
This may have wavered from some of my forums postings which gave this a 9.9 or a 10. But, after further playing and some frustrations of getting kicked off Live, it has decreased slightly.
We'll have some game play fun stuff in next post...
